Diploma and Extended Diploma

The UAL Level 3 Diploma / Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design & Communication (Fashion & Textiles) is a fast-paced and practical route, giving you the skills to develop ideas and design for a range of areas in fashion and textiles industries. 

With projects across fashion, textiles, styling, promotion, and fashion business, you will discover your strengths and define your future path. 

You’ll sample extensively across a variety of techniques and processes, developing an innovative approach.

Learning is supported by industry-standard facilities including industrial sewing machines, textile printing, and laser cutting, Adobe creative suite software,– with access to facilities, such as 3D printing, photographic studios, and more.

With a contemporary ethos and a commitment to developing your independent voice, the Extended Diploma element of this framework of study will prepare you for a career in the fashion and textiles industries.

Alongside the Diploma / Extended Diploma, students will complete two Industry Led briefs set by Industry specialists.

Completion of the Extended Diploma will give you a competitive advantage when entering Higher Education. We guarantee our Extended Diploma students a place on one of our BA (Hons) programmes if they achieve in their final assessment and meet any additional entry criteria.

Many of our students choose to continue their studies with us on degree programmes across art, design and media or apply to various universities across the country.

Future careers could include: fashion designer, accessory designer, stylist, textile designer, print designer, costumier, or illustrator.

University of the Arts London (UAL) is Europe's largest specialist art and design university, comprising six renowned Colleges. UAL awarding body believes in transformative education. 

On this highly respected and well-established full-time course at Worthing, you will have the opportunity to learn through a series of projects, seminars, tutorials, demonstrations and lectures based within the exciting and vibrant creative industries department. 

You can choose your specialism and focus on one of the many topic areas, learning skills, design analysis and creative development.

 

Typical topics include:

fashion design, textile design, textile printing, pattern cutting, costume design, garment construction and styling, embroidery design, soft accessory design, contour design, fashion media promotion, menswear design, furnishing design, fashion illustration plus many more areas within fashion and textiles.

During the course, each project builds on skills gained from previous projects. This way, you're able to rapidly develop your knowledge, skills and attitudes in fashion & textiles, whilst maintaining a broad range of creative ideas.
